The Cornish Barn
Located centrally in Penzance’s bustling town centre, The Cornish Barn is a rustic restaurant, bar and smokehouse – with dedicated indoor and outdoor spaces that host a variety of events and occasions. Cornwall Planning Group were approached to create a multi-purpose alfresco space that was dynamic enough to adapt to any of these functions.
Externally, timber and glass were used to reflect the rustic yet forward thinking ethos of the restaurant, in the form of a conservatory construction that provides customers with a unique and memorable space to socialise.
Installing a retractable roof allowed the brief’s desired flexibility, adjusting to any event or type of weather; even allowing for the addition of a soothing herb garden!
Continuing the aesthetic with a timber bar and food area, adorned with rear cloths and sun awnings, our furnishings created an accessible feel through functionality and comfort. Internally, The Cornish Barn received extensions to the first and ground floors – our plans included a modern balcony and expansion of the kitchen’s floor space to increase both the customer experience and efficiency of the business respectively.
