Meris
With Newlyn’s iconic harbour on its doorstep, Meris is a classic two-bedroom fisherman’s cottage that was quickly becoming outdated. Our first site visit revealed an awkward, dark space, but one with the potential to be brimming with character – a truly chic hideaway.
Modernising the interior of the property to bring it in line with its stunning surroundings, Cornwall Planning Group’s plans were inspired by the harbour views that Meris overlooks. With numerous sea-facing sitting areas, themes of luxury and tranquility immediately stood out. Incorporating wood and metal, our plans combined the old and the new to retain the spirit of the property’s heritage.
Ultimately, the interior reflected the unique, angular aesthetic of the building’s exterior design – with each room’s different proportions providing an eclectic, charming feel. Externally, a black and white colour scheme was accentuated by the use of stone to ensure that the developments did not disrupt Meris’ relationship with its environment; understated yet elegant.
